TORANAGA UK, the legendary metal band from Bradford, West Yorkshire, is back with a vengeance. After a long hiatus, the band has signed with Fireflash Records and is gearing up for a European tour supporting ONSLAUGHT and THE PROPHECY 23. This marks a new chapter for the band, which has been a cult favorite in the metal scene for decades. With their unique blend of thrash metal and classic NWOBHM influences, TORANAGA UK has always stood out from the crowd. Their dark, BLACK SABBATH-style riffs and powerful live performances have earned them a dedicated fan base and a place alongside other metal legends like ONSLAUGHT, XENTRIX, SABBAT, and ACID REIGN.
The band's history is a testament to their resilience and determination. After their label Chrysalis was sold to EMI, they lost their team and missed out on a chance to tour with MOTÖRHEAD. Guitarist Andy Mitchell moved to Australia, and frontman Mark Duffy attempted several comebacks under different names, including THE BASTARD SON OF TORANAGA and TORANAGA UK. Finally, the band settled on the name TORANAGA UK and has been rebuilding their reputation ever since.
In recent years, TORANAGA UK has been making a strong comeback. In 2024, vocalist Mark Duffy assembled a new line-up and performed numerous shows alongside acts like ONSLAUGHT, RIOT CITY, XENTRIX, and ACID REIGN. The band released the powerful 'A New Order' EP in May 2025, featuring two brand-new tracks and re-recorded classics. This was followed by the release of the single 'Crash And Burn' in March 2026, which previewed their upcoming studio album.
Duffy is excited about the band's future, stating, 'We are in the final stages of the recording and mixing of our new album. We can't wait to unleash it on the metalheads out there. We believe we've got an album they're going to love.' The band's new album is highly anticipated, and their signing with Fireflash Records is a significant step forward.
Fireflash Records owner Markus Wosgien is thrilled to welcome TORANAGA UK to their roster. He recalls his first encounter with the band, saying, 'As a 14-year-old metal teenager, I was completely captivated by the album artwork for TORANAGA's second album, 'God's Gift', and so I had to dip into my pocket money after tracks like 'Sword Of Damocles', 'Food Of The Gods', and 'The Shrine' had absolutely blown me away whilst I was listening to them in our local record shop.' Wosgien's enthusiasm for the band is evident, and he believes they still have plenty to say.
The European tour, which will take place in October, is a significant milestone for TORANAGA UK. Duffy is excited about the opportunity to support ONSLAUGHT and THE PROPHECY 23, saying, 'This is a great opportunity for us to go out on tour supporting the mighty ONSLAUGHT along with THE PROPHECY 23 on their European tour. We had a few support shows with ONSLAUGHT last year, and they are great guys. We are stoked to be playing alongside them on this tour.' The band's new line-up, featuring Mark Duffy on vocals, Liam Mulpetre on guitars, Richard Doney on bass, and Toby Wallace on drums, is ready to take on the world.
TORANAGA UK's return is a testament to their enduring legacy in the metal scene. With their unique sound, powerful live performances, and dedicated fan base, they are poised to make a significant impact in the years to come. The band's signing with Fireflash Records and their upcoming European tour are just the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in their career.
