Could Six Flags be preparing to sell off more of its theme parks? A series of trademark applications filed by Enchanted Parks Holdings, LLC, has raised that question. The applicant, based in a downtown Orlando office tower, has filed for trademarks that include the names of several current Six Flags properties, such as Great Escape, Michigan Adventure, and Oceans of Fun. This has led to speculation that Six Flags may be involved with Enchanted Parks in some way, either as a spinoff or an acquirer of its properties. Six Flags is currently in a cash crunch, having passed on the opportunity to buy out partners in Six Flags Over Texas and announced plans to issue $1 billion in senior notes. The company has also closed its Six Flags America theme park in Maryland and is facing a ticking clock for its California's Great America park in the Bay Area. The trademark applications could indicate a potential sale of these properties. To stay updated on the latest Six Flags and theme park news, sign up for Theme Park Insider's weekly newsletter. But here's where it gets controversial... Some may argue that it's unusual for an unrelated entity to trademark established brands held by another company. Why would they waste time and money on that? So, what do you think? Is it possible that Six Flags is planning to sell off more of its theme parks? Or is there another explanation for these trademark applications? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
