November 2025 Car Sales in Malaysia: Mazda & Tesla Surge, Chery Slumps (2026)

Get ready for a thrilling ride as we dive into the world of automotive brands and their latest rankings! The November 2025 car brand rankings have just been released, and they're full of surprises!

In the latest report by the Road Transport Department (JPJ), we see some familiar faces at the top, with a Malaysian-Japanese duo leading the pack. But here's where it gets interesting: Mazda has made a remarkable jump, soaring to the 6th position! And Tesla, the electric vehicle giant, has made a strong comeback, rebounding to 7th place. However, Chery, which had been enjoying a high rank for many months, took a sharp drop to 9th position.

Mazda's recent launches, including the CX-60 and CX-80 SUVs, and the refreshed Mazda 3 and BT-50, have undoubtedly contributed to its impressive sales growth. As for Tesla, its performance has been somewhat inconsistent throughout the year, but November has been its best month yet! It's a close race, and these brands are giving us an exciting battle.

But here's a twist: Chery, which had been consistently ranking 5th or 6th, had to settle for 9th place in November. Its sales dropped significantly from its August high, with only 1,069 units sold. Meanwhile, its colleague, Omoda | Jaecoo, managed to fare slightly better, selling 1,092 units. Mitsubishi, too, was just two units behind Chery.

As we approach the end of 2025, the overall standings are looking intense. Perodua is aiming for a record-breaking 359,000 units this year, which means they need to sell over 36,000 cars in December alone! Proton, on the other hand, is targeting 156,000 units, with a focus on domestic sales after accounting for exports.

Toyota and Honda are also in the mix, with Toyota at 112,903 units and Honda at 64,730 units. The Hilux and the recon/grey market Alphard have certainly had an impact on Honda's sales. Omoda | Jaecoo, a Chinese carmaker, is leading the pack among its peers, with nearly 16,000 units sold, well ahead of BYD and Chery.

And this is the part most people miss: the electric vehicle (EV) perspective. With the rise of sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives, the EV market is gaining momentum. So, how do these brands stack up in the EV race? That's a question we'll leave for another article!

As we enter the final stretch of 2025, the automotive industry is buzzing with excitement. Who will emerge as the top brand by the end of the year? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: these rankings are a testament to the dynamic nature of the car market. So, what do you think? Are you team Mazda or team Tesla? Or do you have another favorite brand? Let's discuss in the comments and share our thoughts on this exciting race!
