Disneyland Hotel's beloved gift shop, small world Gifts & Sundries, has fallen victim to an unfortunate incident, leaving guests wondering what happened and when they can shop again.
A New Year's Eve Flood
The store, known for its delightful array of souvenirs, snacks, and essentials, is currently closed due to flooding. The flooding occurred on New Year's Eve, casting a shadow over the festive celebrations. The right side of the shop is now concealed, with blacked-out windows, while the other half remains visible to curious guests.
Ceiling Leakage and Cleanup Efforts
Evidence suggests that a ceiling leak may be the culprit. The removal of ceiling panels and the presence of plastic sheets indicate ongoing repairs. The shop's merchandise has been partially cleared, with some items, like plastic goods, headwear, and bottles, still on display. Even a section of ear headbands has been creatively protected with a plastic garbage bag.
And here's where the cleanup gets interesting: several industrial driers are hard at work, accompanied by a large plastic-covered garbage can, as the cleaning crew battles the aftermath of the flood.
Reopening and Speculations
Disneyland's website confirms that the shop will reopen on Friday, January 9th, resuming normal hours. The cause of the flooding remains a mystery, but heavy rains in Anaheim during the New Year celebrations might have played a role. In the meantime, guests can still visit the nearby Disney's Fantasia Shop for their gift-buying needs.
